Lorene Ramsey Gymnasium
Lorene Ramsey Gymnasium, named after Hall of Fame women's basketball and softball coach, houses the women's and men's basketball teams, as well as volleyball.
The basketball teams first played their games at the YWCA in East Peoria until 1973 when the gym was built. Originally called the "Community Services Building," it featured a rubber floor with lines for basketball, volleyball, and tennis. Without bleachers, chairs were set up for fans during both the men's and women's basketball games.
All these years later, the rubber floor is still in place, but is now covered by the hardwood floor that fans see once inside the gymnasium. New bleacher seating was installed in 2014, replacing the wooden bleachers that were in place originally.
The gym also features a scoreboard with statistics panels on either side of the gymnasium. Recently, the department added a new video scorer's table, with the ability to display various advertisements and graphics from courtside.
