East Peoria, Ill. - All that stands between the ICC Volleyball team (26-14, 9-1) and hosting the District Tournament is one match. When you add on that it's Sophomore Night, then students have started up a costume theme for the match, it all adds up for a must-see evening of volleyball when the Cougars welcome in-region rival Lincoln Land (24-16, 8-2) on Wednesday night.
The Cougars may be on a four-match skid, but that was all sandwiched into two days against three top-ranked teams in Division-I, so plenty of tough competition. Not just with the recent Jefferson College Invitational, ICC has built itself a very strong non-region schedule. With it's lone region loss being on the road against #3 Parkland, the Cougars control their own destiny.
If ICC defeats the Loggers on Wednesday, then a match involving #15 Heartland and Rend Lake on October 30th has no significance and the Cougars would host districts regardless. However, if ICC were to fall on Wednesday, it would mean they'd need to rely on Heartland to lose as well. Then, the two would have matching in-region records, which ICC holds the head-to-head tiebreaker, and would host. Therefore, if ICC loses to Lincoln Land and Heartland beats Rend Lake, the Cougars would then travel to Parkland College for the District Tournament.

So needless to say, there are many ways this match could be looked at. It's also a fun night. To start, the sophomores will be honored:
Jasmine Nickerson,
Halle Peterson,
Hope Allen,
Brooke Ely,
Lacy Pilgrim,
Ashlyn Mool, and
Hannah Alvey. Details on when the ceremony will be happening will be updated here when they become available. The other student-athletes have also teamed up to make Wednesday a "Costume Night". Pizza will be given to the first 50 students that arrive at Ramsey Gym in their respective costume. Prizes will also be awarded for the students that are the "Most Original", "Most Humorous", and "Best Duo". The student(s) must be present at the match to win.
