Champaign, Ill. - With tri-match scheduling in place, the ICC Volleyball team (18-10) had the opportunity to make a quick turnaround from being swept by #3 Parkland, taking on D3 Joliet (13-10). 

ICC was able to control the first set with a fair amount of ease, winning the opener, 25-12. 

In the second set, the opposing Wolves were able to get off to a good start, with the Cougars not able to maintain a lead until the 5-4 mark. After that, however, it became a bit of a see-saw affair, as neither team truly had control of the set. Joliet made a late run at it, but ICC was able to tie it back up at 19-19. From there, ICC took a 6-1 run to wrap up the set and take a commanding 2-0 set lead by a 25-20 score. 

While the Cougars got off to a quick 5-2 start in the third set, the Wolves returned it with a 5-2 run of their own to tie the set at 7-7. Another tie and the match had returned to its back-and-forth state. ICC was able to force a Joliet timeout on a small run to take a 16-14 lead. A run in the waning moments of the set got ICC to match point at 24-19. Yet the Wolves weren't going down without a fight, getting up to 21 points before ICC was able to close out the set by a 25-21 score. 

The win is ICC's 15th swept win of the season out of 18 wins. The Joliet match also marked the 100th match of head coach Tracy Heffren's tenure at ICC, with the third-year coach now having a career record of (74-26). 

ICC has a few days off before hosting a tri-match on Saturday featuring #6 Kirkwood (19-7) and D1 Lake Land (XX-X).
