Milwaukee, WI---The ICC men's basketball team came up on the short end of a back-and-forth affair against Bryant & Stratton, losing 74-69 at the Bloechl Recreation Center on Thursday night in Milwaukee.
The Cougars held a ten-point lead early in the game but Bryant & Stratton went on a 31-13 run over the last ten minutes of the first half to take a 43-33 lead at halftime. BSC stretched their lead to 55-41 before ICC slowly chipped away for a big comeback. With the score 62-50 at the 9:09 mark,
Emaryon Byrd hit in a three-pointer followed by a
Deylon Johnson old-fashioned three-point play which made the score 62-56.
Still, the Bobcats led 70-61 at the four minute mark until
Jacquan Binion was fouled on a drive to cash in three points, making the score 70-64. After an ICC timeout, Binion found Tony Mabon, Jr. for a three-pointer on the next play to draw ICC to within 70-67 with 2:30 remaining. After empty possessions for both teams, ICC rebounded a BSC miss and found
Lavell McIntosh for a layup to cut the deficit to 70-69 with 1:09 left. Unfortunately, Bryant & Stratton scored on the next possession to make it 72-69; ICC came up empty on offense and had to foul, setting up free throws for the Bobcats (3-3) for the final margin.
Unofficial stats:
Zach Lewkowski 12 pts, 7 reb, 3 assts
Lavell McIntosh 10 pts
Deylon Johnson 8 pts, 5 assts
