Volleyball wins fifth straight

Two wins at John Wood bring record to (12-8)

Quincy, Ill. - One streak continued after Saturday for the ICC Volleyball team (12-8) and another ended, all in the course of a weekend at Mountain Dew Court in Quincy. A 3-0 win over Lincoln Trail and a 3-1 win over hosts John Wood upped the overall win streak to five matches, while the 3-1 John Wood win ended the streak of 10 straight wins by virtue of the sweep.

In the Lincoln Trail match, it was smooth sailing for coach Tracy Heffren's squad, rolling to set wins of 13, 13, and 17.

The John Wood match, however, was much closer, with the Cougars sneaking out wins in sets one and two by spreads of five and six. John Wood did their best to extend the match, easily taking the third by a 25-14 score, but the Cougars turned the jets right back on in the fourth, winning the last set by 12 points.

A five-match win streak comes with perfect timing, as the Cougars had just snapped a losing streak, and a key match is on the way with ICC hosting fifth-ranked Sauk Valley on Thursday night.
