East Peoria, Ill.---A slow first half for the ICC men's basketball team led to a 75-63 loss to Danville Area CC on Wednesday night at Ramsey Gym in both teams' Mid-West Athletic Conference opener. While the Cougars' scoring nearly matched DACC's in the second half, the Jaguars first half production (32-22 halftime lead) was too much for ICC to overcome. With the win, Danville moves to 10-2 overall while the Cougars dropped to 7-7 overall, 0-2 in Region 24, and 0-1 in M-WAC play.
Tony Mabon, Jr. led the way for ICC with 17 points on 7-12 field goal shooting to go along with 4 rebounds.
Jacquan Binion added 16 points and 2 rebounds, and
Lavell McIntosh chipped in with 9 points and 4 rebounds.
Zach Lewkowski finished with 7 points and 5 rebounds.
On the evening, DACC shot 28-55 from the field, good for 51% while the Cougars went 23-55 (42%). Both teams pulled down 28 rebounds each but DACC dished out 15 assists to only 9 from ICC.
Next up: The Cougars will play at Lincoln Land (4-8) on Saturday, January 15 in a 3pm contest; live stream will be on the LLCC Athletics YouTube Channel. The women will play prior to the men at 1pm.
