Quincy, Ill. - Cierra McNamee's career high 29 points led the #3 ICC women's basketball team to a 67-55 win over John Wood CC in Quincy on Wednesday night in Region 24 action.  McNamee, fresh off of being named the NJCAA DII Player of the Week earlier on Wednesday, knifed her way through the Blazers' zone to cash in on 13 of 21 field goals while pulling down six rebounds. Kristyn Mitchell added 10 points and 8 rebounds to give the Cougars their tenth consecutive win and move their record to 15-6 overall, 5-0 in Region 24, and 4-0 in the M-WAC.

The Blazers took an early 10-6 lead before ICC got on track to grab a 15-13 lead.  The Cougar defense dug in, forcing eight Blazer miscues in the second period as McNamee got rolling, scoring 13 points in the period on a variety of feeds from her teammates to put ICC up 33-25 heading into intermission.

McNamee scored two buckets to start the third to give ICC a 37-27 lead, but the Blazers responded with a run to pull to within 47-45 heading into the final frame.  Kyleigh Block nailed a three-pointer from the left wing on an assist from Derria Edwards and McNamee added a basket along with three free throws to give ICC breathing room at 55-45.   John Wood drew to within 59-53 with just under three minutes to play, but the Cougars closed the game with an 8-2 run for the final margin.
