East Peoria, Ill. -
Luca Saewe's second half corner kick lifted the Illinois Central College men's soccer team to a 2-1 come from behind victory over Lincoln Trail in the Region 24 semi-finals at Eastside Football Complex on Saturday evening.
"The guys showcased versatility throughout the game," head coach Gabe Carreno said. "We got down but came back and scored two goals and then managed the spaces correctly after that. Our team is deserving of the win tonight."
The Statesmen struck first, taking a 1-0 lead into intermission. Antoni Plomer tied the score at 1-all on a penalty kick and then Saewe's score (assist from
Eneko Casas) gave the Cougars the lead for good. ICC's record is now 13-6 overall while LTC finished at 7-7-1.
