Oglesby, Ill. - The ICC men's basketball team (2-2) earned their second win in three days against Illinois Valley, defeating the Eagles 72-65 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars jumped on IVCC early to build a big 23-5 lead but IVCC countered with a run of their own and trimmed the ICC lead to 37-25 at the break.
In the second half, the Eagles continued to chip away at ICC's lead and with five minutes remaining in regulation, tied the score at 55-all. The teams continued to trade buckets in the closing minutes and with :14 seconds the Cougars held a 61-58 lead. However, ICC was called for a foul on the three-point attempt by the Eagles and IVCC made all three free throws to push the game into overtime.
In overtime the Cougars outscored the Eagles 11-4 and were able to put the game away with a steal and clutch free throws.
