East Peoria, Ill. - Postseason here. Postseason there. Postseason everywhere. With the fall sports calendar starting to wind down, it's been championship season in East Peoria of late. The Cougars, now 15-6 and ranked 16th in the NJCAA Division-I poll, had taken down Lincoln Trail and Lewis & Clark in a pair of one-goal affairs to win the Region Title.
Friday, it was the Malcolm X Hawks they had to try and take down in hopes of advancing to the district final.
Cristian Bregu scored off an assist from
Alex Garcia, and the Cougars took the lead for good by capitalizing on a penalty kick from Antoni Llull Plomer to seal a 2-1 victory.
Up next: The Cougars will host Jefferson College in the District Championship on Sunday, November 6th at 1PM on their home pitch at the CougarPlex Soccer Field with the winner advancing to the NJCAA DI National Tournament.
