East Peoria, IL - The Illinois Central College men's soccer team got their biggest win of the season to date as they upended #8 Jefferson College 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at CougarPlex Field. It was the third consecutive win for the Cougars and their first victory over a ranked team this season, which moved their overall record to 5-3. Jeff Co suffered their first loss of the season and dropped to 6-0-1.
ICC took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal from
Mahamat Ahmat on an assist from
Jesus Perez and held that lead heading into intermission. In the second half, the Cougars scored again on
Jackson Galloway's bicycle-kick finish (assist
Carlos Lobo).
The home team held a 2-1 lead and finished the Vikings off as Antoni Plomer scored the third goal on another assist from Ahmat.
Next up: The men will look to extend their win streak on Wednesday, September 14 as they host Illinois Wesleyan JV in a 7pm contest at CougarPlex Field.
