Cougars Fall to Lincoln Land

Cougars drop the series, 3-1

East Peoria, Ill. - The Illinois Central College baseball team dropped a 3-0, 12-3 doubleheader on Saturday afternoon to Lincoln Land in M-WAC action at Thome Field.  Carson Johnson pitched well in Game 3 but the Cougars did not muster enough run support and then the Loggers took the nightcap to take the series.  ICC's record is now 13-17 overall and 7-5 in the M-WAC while Lincoln Land moved to 19-14.  

GAME 1 - LINCOLN LAND 3, ICC COUGARS 0
Johnson put ICC in position for a victory as he went six innings and fanned eight Loggers, but unfortunately the Cougar bats only got one hit from Beau Durbin (his team-leading 40th hit of the season). 

LLCC had three one-run innings, scoring one unearned run in the fourth on an error and an earned run in the sixth inning courtesy of an RBI single.  Kannon Kelly pitched the seventh inning with a strikeout but again, a Cougar error allowed LLCC to plate another run.

GAME 2 - LINCOLN LAND 12, ICC COUGARS 3
The Cougar offense did get going in the nightcap but unfortunately, so did the Loggers as the guests took a 5-1 lead .  Kaleb Gauf had an RBI single, scoring Zach Otten but ICC played from behind and could not overcome the early deficit.

After the Cougars were held scoreless in the fourth, a bit of a resurgence in the fifth, as Josh Heyder would hustle home on a passed ball and Matt Evans single to score Jackson Powell and make it a 7-3 score. 

The Loggers outscored ICC 5-0 the rest of the way, including an RBI single, wild pitch, RBI single, and hit by pitch.
