East Peoria, Ill. - After a strong first quarter, poor shooting plagued the ICC women's basketball team (11-7, 1-1), as they fell 76-54 to the #11 Lake Land Lakers (14-4, 1-1) on Wednesday night in Region 24/MWAC action in Ramsey Gym. The Cougars shot 31% from the field, connecting on only 20 of 64 field goals (including 1-15 from three-point range), while the Lakers went 28-61 from the field (46%) and went 7-19 from three-point range. 

After Lake Land took an early 7-2 lead, Addi Swadinsky and Miya Webb combined for eight straight ICC points before Lake Land came back to tie it at 11-all. Naomi Elliott corralled an offensive rebound and passed to Swadinsky for a jumper, followed by a Webb score, as ICC went up 15-11. Swadinsky hit another field goal and Cora DeSutter scored inside on a Paris Wilson feed, giving the Cougars an 18-17 edge after the opening quarter. 

DeSutter scored on an offensive putback, but things went progressively downhill from there, as the Lakers slowly got their offensive footing to take a 30-22 lead. Wilson scored on an offensive putback and assisted Savannah Orgeron for a score, but the Lakers held a 37-28 halftime advantage. 

Lake Land outscored the hosts 23-15 in the third quarter to open up a 60-43 lead after three quarters, as only Webb (7 points), Wilson (2 points), and Elena Redgate hit field goals in the stanza. The fourth quarter did not get any better, as Lake Land coasted to the aforementioned 22-point victory.
