Godfrey, Ill. - Hot three-point shooting propelled the Illinois Central College women's basketball team (17-10, 7-4) to an 86-63 victory over Lewis & Clark on Wednesday night in Region 24 action at River Bend Arena. The Cougars connected on 11 treys on the evening, their most in a game since March 17th, 2022.
Savannah Orgeron led the way with 21 points (four treys),
Saniya Tutt had a career-high 17 points (three treys), and
Miya Webb had 16 points (three treys) to lead that barrage.
Paris Wilson also reached double figures with 10 points, while
Naomi Elliott led the rebounding effort with a career-high 12 boards, and
Imari McDuffy dished out six assists.
Lewis & Clark jumped out to a 7-2 lead before ICC got back on track, thanks to Tutt and Orgeron, who combined for three treys and 13 points to give the Cougars a 20-16 lead after a quarter.
Cora DeSutter scored on a nice move inside to open the second quarter. Tutt and McDuffy each nailed treys, but the Trailblazers stayed close with hot shooting of their own. A steal and layup by Tutt in the closing seconds of the half gave ICC a 39-32 halftime edge.
Webb and Orgeron helped ICC get breathing room as they added treys in the third period. The Cougar defense tightened, and
Naomi Elliott scored on a layup and jumper and stayed active to help ICC to open a double-digit lead at 61-45 heading into the final stanza.
The Cougars kept on the attack, as Webb, Tutt, and Orgeron connected on long-range bombs to widen the margin. McDuffy passed ahead to Orgeron and Wilson who each finished in transition as ICC pulled away for the win.
