East Peoria, IL - The 18th-ranked Illinois Central College men's soccer team (3-0-1) took to the pitch at the CougarPlex on Tuesday evening for a matchup against the Blue Storm from Southwestern Illinois. The potent Cougar attack that had averaged 4.3 goals per game coming in was limited, but the defense did its job and kept the game at a 1-1 draw by game's end.
The Cougars were held off the scoreboard in the first 45 minutes, but it would be sophomore
Brandon Castro that would find the net in the second half, with
Adam Pike assisting the goal and from there, the tie settled in.
The draw after full-time allows ICC to retain its unbeaten start to the 2024 season, including a 3.5 goals scored per game average.
ICC continues its homestand on Saturday at 5PM at the CougarPlex when they take on a familiar name in the Lewis & Clark Trailblazers, who took both meetings last season by final scores of 2-1 (in East Peoria) and 4-2 (in Godfrey).
