East Peoria, IL - The 17th-ranked Illinois Central College Women's Basketball team (11-4, 2-0) got defensive in Ramsey Gym on Sunday afternoon, forcing 33 turnovers in their 89-50 victory over the Kaskaskia Blue Angels (1-14, 1-2) in Region 24 action. ICC scored 35 points off the Kaskaskia miscues as five players reached double figures - Lily Luczkowiak (14), Addi Swadinsky (13), Addy Engel (12), Kamryn Heider (12), and Khalise Thomas (11). 

Luczkowiak swiped five steals, Heider pulled down seven rebounds, and Lauren Maas dished out a game-high six assists. 

Maas and Swadinsky opened the game with back-to-back steals for layups, followed by a Swadinsky three-ball (assist Luczkowiak) for a 7-0 lead. The Blue Angels settled in and went on a run to close the quarter, pulling to within 20-16 after ten minutes. 

After a Madison Jobe three-pointer (assist Gracie Heckert) gave ICC a 25-18 lead midway through the second period, the Cougars dug in defensively and put the pedal to the metal for a 20-4 run en route to a 45-22 halftime lead. During the run, ICC got scores on a Savannah Orgeron jumper, Thomas trey, and layups by Dana, Thomas, and Heider, along with free throws by Engel and Swadinsky to break the game open. 

The second half was much of the same as ICC increased their lead on eight points in the third by Luczkowiak and three-pointers from Heider (2) and Swadinsky. Swadinsky netted another trey (three made for the game; career-high) and Thomas and Engel combined for 11 points in the final frame.
