East Peoria, IL - The Illinois Central College Men's Basketball team (3-11) wrapped up its Arizona trip on Friday and Saturday with games at the Glendale Gauchos and Phoenix Bears. The Friday matchup with the Gauchos saw the opposition edge the Cougars 69-62, while the Saturday finale against the Bears saw the Cougars play well in the second half, Phoenix had just made up enough points in the first half for a 74-59 victory over ICC.
GLENDALE GAUCHOS 69, ICC COUGARS 62
This one was close throughout, with Glendale only out-scoring ICC at the half 33-31 and the final margin seen above. The Cougars even out-shot the Gauchos (43% to 38%), but Glendale shot just a smidge better at the free throw line, going 18-21 to ICC's 13-17. The Cougars also won the rebounding battle over the Gauchos, 41-37.

This contest was a tale of two halves. The Bears got out of the cave red-hot and took a 19-point lead into the halftime locker room (46-27). Despite the deficit, the Cougars saw a renewed sense of energy out of the break, particularly on the offensive end, out-scoring Phoenix 32-28 in the second half, but the gap the Bears had created in the first half ended up being what they needed. The Cougars won the turnover battle (13 to 16) and were narrowly out-shot by the Bears (42% to 43%). ICC shot better from distance, going 8-14 to Phoenix's 12-18.
