Mario Bedford's penalty kick in the 81st minute lifted the #7 Illinois Central College men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Lincoln Trail on Friday afternoon at CougarPlex Soccer Field.
The Cougars' exciting win moves their record to 9-3-3 overall on the season.
Lincoln Trail scored on a set piece (free kick) in the first half at the 35th minute for a 1-0 lead.
The Cougars kept possessing and countering and got a penalty kick on a counter attack in the 70th minute.
Nathan Le Roux got fouled in the box and scored on a penalty kick to tie the game at 1-all.
A late counter in the 81st minute,
Alec Benny got fouled in the box in another counter attack, setting up Bedford's winning score on the penalty kick for the final 2-1 score.
Milo Paci had 4 great interventions.
The Cougars will travel to #12 Indian Hills on Tuesday for a 3pm kickoff.
