East Moline, IL - The #3 Illinois Central College women's basketball team defeated Black Hawk College 83-49 on Wednesday evening at the BHC Athletic Complex.
Lily Luczkowiak, fresh off NJCAA Player of the Week honors (as announced earlier in the day) had 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals to lead the Cougars (6-1).
Addy Engel added 15 points and 7 boards, while
Kam Heider had 12 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds.
Maziah Shelton and
Larissa Taylor each pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Cougars took a 23-17 lead after the first quarter behind seven Luczkowiak points and treys from
Piper Whiteman and
Ellie VanMeenen. ICC improved their defensive effort in the second period and turned stops into points for a 43-25 halftime lead. Heider and Engel combined for a dozen points in the period while West and Whiteman added baskets from long-distance.
Luczkowiak spearheaded the attack in the third, tallying ten points for a 65-37 advantage. The Cougars stayed on the attack for the final margin, as all players who saw action scored.
