Ina, IL - The #19 Illinois Central College men's basketball team lost in overtime to Rend Lake College on Saturday, 76-83. The Cougars are 10-4 on the season. 

The Cougars got off to a rocky start, with 5 turnovers on the first 5 possessions. Despite the turnovers, the game was tied 5-5 by the first timeout. The game stayed close for the rest of the first half, with ICC headed into halftime with the lead, 32-29. 

Both teams traded baskets coming out of the half, and then ICC went on a 6-0 run, forcing Rend Lake to take a timeout with just over 17 minutes to go in the second half. The Cougars kept up their offensive attack, leading 56-41 with 11 minutes left. But Rend Lake did not give up and started to chip away at ICC's lead. 

With 4 minutes left in the game, the Cougars led 66-59. Then, Rend Lake went on a 7-0 run to wind the game down to the final seconds left in regulation. They called a timeout with 16 seconds left, down by 2, to set up the game-tying play. ICC could not score again and the game went to overtime tied up at 70. 

Overtime went in Rend Lake's favor as they pulled away in the final minutes. ICC was forced to foul and after back-to-back misses, couldn't come up with the points to come away with the victory. The game ended, Rend Lake winning 83-76. 

The Cougars play next at Spoon River on Wednesday, January 14 at 7:30 pm.
