East Peoria, IL - A solid defensive and rebounding effort led the #10 Illinois Central College women's basketball team to a 91-45 win over Danville Area in Region 24 action on Monday afternoon at Ramsey Gym. The Cougars held the Jaguars to just 31% field goal shooting and owned the boards 54-27 while six players reached double figures in Lily Luczkowiak (20 points), Addy Engel (14), Hannah West (14), Kam Heider (12), Maziah Shelton (10), and Larissa Taylor (10). 

Shelton and Taylor each recorded double-doubles as Shelton pulled down a game-high 11 boards and Taylor had 10 caroms. Heider dished out a game-high 6 assists. With the win, ICC improved their record to 16-3 overall and 3-2 in Region 24. Danville fell to 8-11 overall and 1-4 in Region 24. 

ICC took a 15-8 first quarter lead as Heider, Luczkowiak, Engel, Taylor, and Shelton combined for scores. The Cougars used a 16-2 run to start the second period as a Heider assist to Luczkowiak got things going. Taylor and Engel each had offensive putbacks, Luczkowiak added a jumper (assist A'Meah Lester), Taylor had two scores inside (assists Heider & Ellie VanMeenen), VanMeenen and Heider finished on attacks at the rim, while Shelton scored inside (assist VanMeenen) to put ICC ahead 33-12.

Layups by Engel and Luczkowiak closed out the half for a 39-14 advantage.

The Cougars found their long distance shooting eye in the third as West, Piper Whiteman, and Engel all made treys while Luczkowiak, Shelton, and Taylor controlled matters on the inside for a 68-27 lead after three quarters. West and Whiteman added three treys in the fourth for the final score.
