Ina, Ill. - The Illinois Central College men's golf team concluded their Fall 2026 season with a runner-up finish in the Warrior Classic held at the Rend Lake Golf Complex on Monday and Tuesday. Individually, freshman Jacob Voss (Fulton HS) led the way with an even par 71-73-144 to earn his 1^st collegiate tournament runner-up medal.

ICC led the tournament after Day 1, but could not hold on and finished 2^nd in the six-team field.

Quotes from Coach Sean Kennedy on Voss's Performance
"This was a breakout performance for Jacob Voss. He's been knocking at the door all fall, but two to three holes each tournament of freshman anxiety has really bitten him. However, today I saw 36 holes of a poised freshman who played really mature collegiate golf. It was exciting and thrilling to watch him kick that door down and earn a collegiate runner-up finish."

Kennedy on the Team & What's Next
"We had a terrific fall season as we won two tournaments, including bringing the M-WAC Conference Championship plaque back to the CougarPlex. The team earned a Top 10 NJCAA National ranking and Connor Watson is currently the NJCAA #1 ranked player in the country. The players will take a week off to get their academic priorities under control, and then begin a rigorous off-season strength and conditioning program. Our spring 2027 campaign begins with an immediate stern test at The Ron Marshall Spring Fling in Scottsboro, Alabama (in memory of former Coach Marshall) where the field currently features seven teams ranked in the NJCAA Top 18. We have a lot of work to do before February 27 when we get on that bus to Alabama."
