Men's Soccer Opens on Sunday Hosting SWIC

Game Time is 11am

EAST PEORIA, Ill. – A new era begins for the Illinois Central College men's soccer program in 2026, but the expectations remain the same as the Cougars look to once again contend for a Region 24 title and advance to Nationals.

ICC enters the season coming off a strong 2025 campaign in which the Cougars finished 11-5-4 and captured the Region 24 championship. While the 2026 roster will feature plenty of new faces, the program will have a familiar leader on the sideline in first-year head coach Tacuma Sadlow.

Sadlow, a proud ICC alum, takes over the program after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach for the Cougars. He was part of the coaching staff that helped ICC claim the Region 24 championship in 2025, giving him firsthand knowledge of what it takes to compete at the top of the region. His connection to Cougar soccer goes back even further.

As a student-athlete at ICC, Sadlow played wing back and helped lead the Cougars to a Region 24 championship and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2017. He later continued his playing career at Western Illinois University, where he was a member of the Leathernecks' 2019 Summit League championship team. Now, Sadlow gets the opportunity to lead his alma mater and build upon the program's tradition of success.

The Cougars will have a much different look on the field this fall with a roster featuring numerous newcomers. Developing chemistry and establishing roles early in the season will be important as ICC prepares for the challenges of Region 24 play.

One of the biggest challenges will come from longtime Region 24 rival Lewis & Clark. The two programs split their regular-season meetings a year ago before ICC delivered when it mattered most, defeating Lewis & Clark 3-0 in the Region 24 championship game. The rivalry will again be an important part of the Cougars' road through the region in 2026.

ICC will also test itself against quality competition outside the region. Matchups with perennial NJCAA powers Iowa Western and Indian Hills will provide the Cougars with opportunities to measure themselves against strong competition and prepare for the intensity of postseason play.

For Sadlow, the 2026 season represents another chapter in a journey that has taken him from ICC player to assistant coach and now to head coach. His familiarity with the program, championship experience and connection to Illinois Central College provide a strong foundation as he begins his first season leading the Cougars.

ICC's first regular season game will be Sunday, August 23 when they host Southwestern Illinois at 11:00 am at the CougarPlex Soccer Field. Fans can follow the team on their Instagram page at iccmsoc.
