3rd season at Illinois Central College
Alma Maters: Illinois Valley Community College & Lincoln College
After recently finishing his college golf playing career, Spencer Marquez enters his third season as an assistant coach for the golf program. Marquez played for head coach Sean Kennedy while at Illinois Valley Community College (2018-20) and then continued at Lincoln College in 2020-22. Having competed on several of the courses the Cougars will play on this season, Kennedy and his players will lean on Marquez to draw from his experiences to help the team.
While at Lincoln College, Marquez was a Top 10 finisher at the NAIA National Qualifier, earned all-conference honors, and served as team captain. He had multiple Top-5 finishes at the Deer Park Championship, IVCC Challenge at the Den at Fox Creek, and the Retail Run Challenge.
At IVCC, Marquez was a Top-15 finisher at the 2019 NJCAA Division II Golf National Qualifying held at Prairie View GC in Byron. He also medaled in the 2019 Duane Chaney Invitational while leading the Eagles to the tourney title.
Marquez, a native of Wyanet, IL, earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Administration from Lincoln College in 2022.
