Assistant Coach Kayla Ford enters her fourth year as a member of head coach Heather Doty’s staff. She works with both infielders and outfielders on player development, while also managing the Cougar Softball social media platforms and assisting with program fundraising. In 2025, the ICC staff was named the Region 24 Coaching staff of the year.
Ford, a native of Washington, Illinois, was an outfielder for the 2015 IHSA Class 3A State Champions team and the 2016 State Runner-Up squad.
For the Cougars, Ford (2016-18) made two appearances at the NJCAA World Series, including a fourth-place finish as a freshman.
Following her successful playing career for the Cougars, Ford went on to play at Iowa Wesleyan University. Ford graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a concentration in Sport Management (2020), and later a Master’s in Business Leadership and a concentration in Athletic Administration (2022). She also served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Tigers' softball team during the 2021 season.
Ford enjoys family game nights and spending time with her dogs outside of softball. She also works at Team Works by Holzhauer, Inc. in Washington.
