Alex Staab got his start as the play-by-play voice of ICC women's basketball program in 2017-18 and is now in his ninth season with the program, having been on the call for 215 broadcasts entering the 2025-26 season. He individually produces his own broadcasts through the live audio platform "Mixlr" and manages the team's social media accounts.
Staab got his start in broadcasting when he began calling games on TV for Metamora High School Girls Basketball, a role he held from 2014-2023, and is returning to for the 2025-26 season. He serves as the Radio Play-by-Play and Public Address Voice of Metamora High School softball and serves as the PA Announcer for the IHSA State Softball Finals.
He has assisted as a Public Address Announcer at the State Farm Holiday Classic in Bloomington-Normal since 2019, and spent one season as the TV Play-by-Play voice of the Western Illinois University women's basketball program (2019-2020).
He has roughly seven years of experience at the NCAA Division I level, working with Bradley University. He was their public address announcer for women's basketball, volleyball, and softball over an array of years spreading from 2016-2022. He served as an intern for the university's Athletic Communications office from August-December 2022, temporarily covering Sports Information Director duties for volleyball and women's basketball.
Here on campus at ICC, he is the public address announcer for the volleyball program (9th season) and helps with game-day operations for both volleyball and women's basketball. Alex is a valuable asset to the Sports Information department at ICC, having helped implement the Sidearm Sports' website for Athletics in 2021 and currently covers Volleyball, Men's Soccer, Men's Basketball, Baseball, and Men's Golf.
A 2016 graduate of Metamora High School and a 2019 graduate of ICC, he graduated in December of 2022 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports Communication from Bradley. He currently resides in Germantown Hills.
