Alma Maters: Illinois Central College, Illinois Wesleyan University

After playing for her mom (Tracy) at both Eureka HS and ICC, Cougar volleyball alum Courtney Heffren returned to the bench as an assistant coach in 2023.

Courtney was a rare two-sport athlete for the Cougars, playing volleyball for two years and basketball for one. In volleyball, she was named Region 24 All-Region twice, and the NJCAA National Tournament All-Tournament team once. An AVCA All-American, she helped the Cougars volleyball squad to 4th and 8th place finishes at the National Tournament. As a freshman for the women's basketball team, she averaged 6.7 points per game and was top five on the team in rebounds (4.0 per game), making 13 starts.

In her prep career, Heffren set all-time Eureka records in volleyball for digs, and basketball for assists. She was also a member of her mom's 2016 IHSA 2A State Volleyball Championship team. The Hornets also reached the Elite 8 in volleyball in 2017 and 2018.

She also spent one year on the Illinois State volleyball team in 2021, when the Redbirds won the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Courtney spent her senior season at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she played in all 29 matches, tallying 73 kills, 304 digs, 28 aces, 15 assists, and 7 blocks.

She lives in Eureka and graduated from Illinois Wesleyan in December of 2023. She currently teaches at Germantown Hills Elementary School.
