West Burlington, Iowa - The ICC men's basketball team (9-15, 2-6) marched along on a tough finish to the regular season, playing their third consecutive ranked opponent, this time in the form of 15th-ranked Southeastern Iowa.
The Blackhawks were in front for the the duration, including a 41-24 advantage at the break.
ICC was unable to find a rhythm in their shooting, going 19-66 for the game, equal to a 28.8% mark. That's opposed by a 32-67 effort from the hosts (47.8%).
Southeastern Iowa bested the Cougars in all but one statistical category, that being the Cougars' three-point shooting, in which they went 6-12 for a 50% clip. Within that stat is a perfect 3-3 night from behind the arc for
Tony Mabon Jr., who has consistently been a reliable three-point threat for coach
Tony Wysinger, as Mabon Jr. currently ranks second on the team for the season.
Mabon Jr. and
Lavell McIntosh both finished in double figures to pace the Cougars scoring.
ICC has a fairly short turnaround, traveling to Champaign on Saturday to face Parkland for the second time in six days. You'll recall that the Cobras and Cougars battled it out for a 114-101 Parkland winner in East Peoria on Valentine's Day.
