Danville, Ill---The ICC men's basketball team heads into the Region 24 tourney tonight playing at Danville Area CC at 7:00 pm. The Cougars (10-16), the #7 seed, are a team full of momentum after having defeated John Wood this past Saturday and also having nearly upset the top two tourney seeds (#1 Parkland and #2 Danville) in the past two weeks on their home floors.
Danville enters the tourney as #2 seed with a 17-6 record. Both contests the two teams have played were tight ones with the Jaguars winning 75-63 in East Peoria on January 12 and prevailing 73-69 on February 12 in Danville. In the February 12 contest, guard Tony Mabon, Jr. led the Cougars with 16 points,
Lavell McIntosh and
Zach Lewkowski each had 13 points, and
Quentin Edmonds-Long added 9 points.
On the season, Mabon, Jr. has been a consistent bucket-getter, leading the team at 15.1 ppg on 46% field goal shooting. He has a solid mid-range game and also has poured in 27 three-pointers.
Zach Lewkowski averages 10.8 ppg while leading the team in three-pointers with 34 (shooting at a 35% clip), and
Lavell McIntosh is also in double figures at 10.7 ppg.

Danville is led by freshman forward Stephen Atkinson (11.7 ppg), Daylen Davis-Williams (10.4 ppg), and Kendall Taylor (9.2 ppg).

If they win, ICC will advance to the Region 24 semi-finals on Saturday, March 5 at 3:00 pm to play the winner of #3 John Wood and #6 Lincoln Land on the campus of Lincoln Land CC in Springfield. The championship game is slated for Sunday, March 6 at 2:00 pm in Springfield.
