Belleville, Ill. - The ICC baseball team (2-4) had a brief pause between games due to a postponement, but were glad to be back on a field on Tuesday, when the traveled to take on the Southwestern Illinois Blue Storm.
The Cougar bats got off to a good start, getting as far ahead as 5-1. That was powered by a two-RBI single from
Brody Reed, which at the moment, made the lead 3-1.
ICC got the fifth run across in the top of the fifth, when
Coltin Quagliano had an RBI single to make the score 5-2.
With the Blue Storm on their home field, their bats would unload in the bottom half of that same inning, scoring eight runs. The Cougars did get an RBI single from
Ben Nofsinger to counter, but that would be all the Cougars scored.
SWIC would still extend the lead and set the final score of 11-6 in favor of the hosts.
The Cougars have a few days off from games before a series with MWAC rival Parkland, starting with a trip to Champaign's PC Baseball Field on Friday, March 18th. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM, with a second game to follow immediately afterwards. Fans are encouraged to follow live stats on the team's
