East Peoria, Ill.---Jake Burge's three-run homer lifted the ICC baseball team to a 5-2 win over Parkland in Game 3 of the teams' four-game series on Monday afternoon at Thome Fields.  The Cobras took Game 4 by a score of 14-2.

Starting pitcher Joe Nelan started strong for the Cougars (4.1 IP, 3 strikeouts), holding PC scoreless until running into trouble in the 5th inning as Parkland went up 2-0.  The Cougars responded in the bottom half of the inning as Coltin Quagliano started off the inning with a single followed by a Max Jones' double.  Quagliano scored on a wild pitch and with two outs, Josh Heyder lined a double to center field.  Brody Reed had an RBI single and then both he and Heyder scored on Burge's blast over the left field fence to give the Cougars the lead at 5-2.

Kaleb Gauf pitched 2.2 innings with 3 strikeouts to get the win. 

The Cobras had the hot bats in the nightcap, scoring 2 runs in the first, 3 in the second, an 8-spot in the 3rd, and 1 more in the 4th.  ICC scored 1 run in each of the 1st and 3rd innings but it was not enough.  Cam Glick took the loss as he had 4 strikeouts but gave up 5 earned runs.

Next up:   The Cougars, now 4-6, will be back at Thome Fields on Thursday, March 24 as they host Black Hawk in a 2pm double-header.
