Danville, Ill.---The ICC softball team dropped a double-header at Danville, 8-6 and 7-2 on a chilly Tuesday afternoon at Winter Park in Region 24 action. The Cougars battled in Game 1 as they had a 6-4 lead in the 6th inning until Danville rallied and then the Jaguars also snagged the second game. With the loss, ICC's record drops to 10-6 overall while Danville improved to 18-4.
Game 1:
DACC took a 4-0 lead by the 3rd inning before
Olivia Drish and
Priscilla Peek led off the top of the fourth with singles that eventually plated two runs. ICC added four more runs in the top of the 5th inning as hits by
Olivia Stirnaman, Drish, Peek,
Hanna Evans, and
Kelsey Gillette coupled with DACC errors put the Cougars up 6-4. The Jaguars tied the score at 6-all in the bottom half of the 5th and then added two more runs in the 6th for the win. Drish went 2-2 with a double and Peek was 2-4.
Hanna Evans took the loss; she now has a 5-2 record.
Game 2:
The Cougars couldn't get the offense going besides a Peek solo home run in the 4th inning that made the score 3-1 in favor of DACC and then an Usherwood double and Stirnaman single in the 6th.
Alyssa Beltran added a double in the 7th.
Kiersten Manning took the loss; she is 4-3 on the season.
Next up: The Cougars' game vs. Lewis & Clark on Wednesday, March 30 has been postponed; makeup date is TBA so next on the schedule is Thursday, March 31 at Lincoln Land in Springfield for a 3pm double-header. Check the ICC website for any changes or updates.
