Carterville, Ill. - The ICC baseball team (0-2) had Opening Day upon them, taking on John A. Logan and Kankakee in a Saturday doublehader. The Cougars will ultimately fall in both - a 15-14 walkoff to John A. Logan and a 12-2 final score against Kankakee.
In game two, ICC tallied two home runs, one each from
Travis Lutz and
Ben Nofsinger. However, the Cavalier pitching proved too much for the Cougar bats, as ICC struck out 14 times.
Chase Ulrich had the lone multi-hit game, tallying a single and a double in the loss.
Lutz also drew the team's lone walk, good for a team-high 3 quality at-bats.
Announced late Saturday, the Cougars will no longer play Southeastern Illinois on Sunday, as that game has been cancelled. The next game on the schedule for the Cougars is a rematch with Kankakee on Thursday, March 10th, back at Carterville's Volunteer Field.
