Carterville, Ill.--The ICC baseball team took two from Kankakee on Wednesday afternoon, defeating the Cavaliers 5-4 and 7-3 at Volunteer Field down in Carterville to pick up their first wins of the young season.
Game 1 Recap:
KCC held a 4-3 lead heading into the top of the 6th inning when
Ben Nofsinger hit a solo shot to tie the score at 4-4.
Josh Heyder and
Coltin Quagliano each singled in the top of the 7th and Heyder scored on a single by
Zach Otten for the go-ahead run.
Garrett Peterson got the win as he pitched scoreless 6th and 7th innings while striking out two.
Joe Nelan was the starting pitcher, going 4 innings with 5 strikeouts and 2 earned runs.

Game 2 Recap:
The Cougars trailed 1-0 until plating two runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by
Kaleb Gauf, scoring Quagliano (who had doubled) and
Jackson Powell (who had singled). In the 4th, Nofsinger belted a two run homer that also scored Quagliano.
Max Smyth got the win as he pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 9.
Bryce Brecklin came on in relief, pitching two scoreless innings.
