West Burlington, IA---
Olivia Drish hit a two-run homer in the top of the 7th inning of Game 2 to give the ICC softball team a split with Southeastern Iowa on Monday afternoon. SCC took the first game 7-4 but ICC bounced back to take the second game 5-4.
Game 1 Recap:
Southeastern took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. ICC countered with one run in the 2nd and two in the third inning on a
Priscilla Peek two-run shot to go up 3-2 but the Blackhawks took the lead for good in the bottom of the 3rd, scoring three runs.
Ameila Johnson had a single and scored on an
Allie Scrivner RBI single in the 5th. Scrivner went 2-4 from the plate.
Drish took the loss for ICC. The righthander allowed six hits and seven runs over six innings, striking out two.
Game 2 Recap:
The Cougars stole the lead late in the game when Drish homered on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs in the top of the 7th to break a 3-all tie. Peek had doubled with two-outs, setting the stage for Drish's homer. The Blackhawks scored one run in the bottom of the 7th but the defense held to give the Cougars the win.
SCC held a 3-0 lead until the 6th inning when
Savanah Clifton and
Skylar Knabe singled and then scored on an
Amber Lee two-RBI single.
Peek had a solo home run in the 6th inning; she led the Cougars with a 2-3 performance at the plate.
Kiersten Manning was the winning pitcher going three innings and allowing one hit and one run while striking out two.
Neely Rogers started the game, allowing three runs on three hits in four innings. Box scores from both games appear below.
Next up: The Cougars (15-9) will return to Thome Field on Tuesday (April 12) to host Region 24 foe Danville Area in a 3pm double-header at Thome Field.
