East Peoria, Ill.---Allie Scrivner's walk-off double in the bottom of the 8th inning lifted the ICC softball team to a 7-6 win over Spoon River on Wednesday in Region 24 action at the Louisville Slugger Dome.  The Cougars rode that momentum into the second game, winning 9-1.  Priscilla Peek smacked three home runs on the day, including a game-tying two-run blast in the bottom of the seventh (of Game 1) and then smashing a grand slam (in Game 2) to complete the sweep.

Game 1 Recap
Peek had a two-run blast in the first inning to get the scoring started for a 2-1 lead.  Spoon tied it at 2-all in the top of the second and then it was a pitcher's duel over the next four innings.

Kiersten Manning then hit a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth to put ICC up 3-2, but SRC charged back with three runs in the top of the 7th to take a 6-3 advantage.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Ameila Johnson doubled, followed by a Sydnee Usherwood RBI single that pulled the Cougars to within 6-4.  Then with two outs and a 1-2 count, Peek went yard again over the left field fence, tying the game at 6-all and setting up Scrivner's 8th inning heroics.

Hanna Evans earned the victory as she surrendered six runs (only 2 earned) on four hits over eight innings, striking out eight.

ICC totaled eight hits, with Peek and Usherwood going 2-4.  Peek collected 4 RBI.

Game 2 Recap
Manning had her pitches working from the circle in game two, striking out nine and allowing just one run on one hit.

The Cougars had a variety of hitting highlights as Usherwood hit a two-run homer in the second to get on the board at 2-0.

ICC put up a six-spot in the fifth on three consecutive singles by Johnson, Usherwood, and Olivia Stirnaman.  Peek brought them all home with her shot to left followed by Olivia Drish's solo homer.

Johnson added an RBI single in the sixth inning as ICC rolled to the win.

Next up:
The Cougars, now 21-11 overall and 10-6 in Region 24, will play at Lincoln Land (Springfield, IL) in a 3pm double-header.
