East Peoria, Ill.---The ICC baseball team lost a doubleheader to Heartland on Sunday at Thome Field 11-4 and 14-1. The Cougars held the lead midway through Game 1 but the Hawks got their offense going to get the win and that momentum also carried over to help them capture the nightcap. ICC falls to 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the M-WAC. Heartland, who received votes in the lastest NJCAA poll, extended their win streak to twelve games to move to 20-6.

The Cougars scored in the bottom of the first as
Max Jones walked and
Ben Nofsinger hit a two-run homer to give ICC energy in the early going. After Heartland answered with three runs,
Brody Reed hit an RBI double and then scored on a
Jake Burge single to go up 4-3. However, the Hawks' pitching staff buckled down and their offense cranked up to get the win.
Joe Nelan took the loss, pitching four innings and striking out two.

Game 2 Recap:
Heartland opened the game scoring four runs in the first inning. Nofsinger went deep in the bottom of the first but Heartland scored eight runs in the top of the second to take control.
Kaiden Rixner took the loss for ICC.
Next up: The tough schedule continues for the Cougars as they head to #4 Kirkwood on Tuesday, April 5 for a 1pm doubleheader in Cedar Rapids, IA.
