East Peoria, Ill. - The ICC baseball team used a pair of three-run home runs by
Max Jones and
Brody Reed to defeat Spoon River 13-2 in Game 3 of the series but then fell 15-3 in the final game at Thome Field on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars had a strong offensive attack in the early game but the Snappers' bats woke up in the finale to take one game in the series.
Coltin Quagliano continued his hot hitting, going 3-4 with a triple and two doubles in the early game while
Jake Burge added a two-run homer.

The Cougars took a 10-0 lead after the first two innings, scoring four in the opening frame and then six in the second. Quagliano led off with a double, Jones had an RBI single and
Evan Pogioli had an RBI double to go along with two ICC runs scored on SRC errors.
In the second inning,
Zach Otten hit a double and Quagliano a triple followed by a Reed RBI single. The Cougars scored another run on an error and then Jones launched a three-run homer to give ICC their double digit lead at 10-0.
The Snappers scored two runs in the top of the fifth but the Cougars got that back in the bottom half as Otten walked and Quagliano doubled before Reed's homer to left field ended the game after five innings.
Bryce Brecklin got the win, scattering five hits while striking out two.

After SRC got a run in the top of the first, ICC scored all their runs in the first inning on a Reed single, Otten double, and Burge's home run. Unfortunately, Spoon scored five in the second, five in the fifth, and four in the sixth to end the game.

Next up: ICC finishes the regular season at 17-26 (13-18 in the M-WAC) and will advance to the Region 24 Tourney to play on Wednesday, May 18 at the Corn Crib in Normal with the time and opponent TBA. The Region Tourney runs from May 18-22 with the winner advancing to the NJCAA World Series in Enid, OK on May 28-June 4.
