Danville, Ill. - Updated information for the Region 24 softball tournament at Danville Area's Winter Park has been released. The games will now be played Sunday, May 8 and Monday, May 9 with the #4 seeded Cougars (30-18) playing Sunday at 10am against #1 seeded Danville (37-11). #2 seed Parkland (38-19) and #3 seed Spoon River (38-19) round out the tournament and will face off at 12:15 pm.
The Cougars and Jaguars played a home and away series this season with Danville winning both home games on March 29 and the teams splitting in East Peoria on April 12.
If ICC beats Danville, they will play at 2:30 pm Sunday against the winner of Parkland and Spoon River. If the Cougars lose Game 1, they will move to the losers' bracket game at 4:45. The tournament is double-elimination with the champion being crowned on Monday and advancing to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Oxford, AL on May 24-28.
The Region 24 championship game loser will advance to the District P Tournament Championship for a best of three series on May 14-15 with the winner also advancing to Nationals.
All ICC games will be shown live on the ICC Softball Facebook or fans can follow on Gamechanger. General admission is $5 per person (cash only) for the entire day. Fans in attendance should park in the parking lot east of the softball field.
