Waterloo, IA - The #18 Illinois Central College volleyball team was close in each set but could not get over the hump against #13 Hawkeye, losing 21-25, 21-25, 19-25 in non-region action on Friday night in Iowa. The loss stopped a four-game winning streak for ICC, who drops to 17-8 overall.
"We continue to see positive things out of our team but we had errors at inopportune times that didn't allow us to get over the hump," coach
Tracy Heffren said. "We do trust that our tough schedule now will pay off for us later as we continue to work out the kinks and learn to play more consistently."
Gracie Schultz led ICC with 11 kills while
McKinley Daniels had 15 assists and
Hope Allen had 10.
Emily Cronkhite (25 digs) and
Emily Allison (22 digs) spearheaded the passing attack while Allen (4) and
Kaitlyn Baumann (2) led the blocking efforts.
Allison had 2 aces and Cronkhite had 1 ace to round out team stats.
Next up: ICC will be back on the road on Monday, September 26 as they travel to Canton to play Spoon River in Region 24 action at MidAmerica National Bank Gym at 6pm.
