Bourbonnais, Ill. - The ICC men's basketball team (6-3) ventured north to take on the JV squad from the Olivet Nazarene Tigers at McHie Arena. It was definitely a game of runs, until the Cougars made what wound up being the game-deciding run midway through the second half, and eventually hold on for a 92-82 win.
Both teams were able to get their offense flowing, with the 'worst' shooting percentage being ONU's at a still solid 44% to ICC's 50%. ICC would take a slim 42-36 lead over the Tigers into the halftime break.
The back-and-forth nature of the game continued into the second half. Olivet got within 52-50 with 10 minutes left, but the Cougars would force three straight turnovers and score seven points over that same stretch in what became the stretch that decided the game. It put ICC ahead 59-50 and the Tigers would ultimately not get any closer.
The Cougars' hot shooting night continued, dropping a 56% mark in the second half, adding up to 53% for the game.
ICC was able to distribute the ball well, with few to no mistakes, totaling 20 assists and just eight turnovers, a season-high and season-low, respectively.
