Powell Hits Grand Slam; Hainline & Quick Pitch Complete Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 East Peoria, Ill. - The Illinois Central College baseball team pounded out four home runs and a total of 24 hits in their M-WAC opening double-header as they took down Vincennes 13-2 and 11-0 on Sunday afternoon at Thome Field.  Nick Hainline and Kaiser Quick both gave solid performances on the mound pitching complete games while Jackson Powell ended game two with a walk-off grand slam. 

Game 1 Recap (ICC 13, Vincennes 2 in 5 innings)
The Cougars scored four runs in the first inning highlighted by Beau Durbin's two-run homer and Matt Evans' 2-RBI single. 

ICC tallied seven runs in the second inning behind a 2-RBI single from Cam Porter and RBI singles from Kaleb Gauf, Tyler Hansen, and Matt Evans to go up 11-0.  VU answered with two runs in the top of the fourth inning but ICC got those runs back on a 2-RBI double by Josh Heyder.  

Hainline went the distance as he struck out six batters and scattered seven hits.

Game 2 Recap (ICC 11, Vincennes 0)
The bats stayed hot for the second game as ICC took a 5-0 lead on Heyder's two-run homer in the 3rd and a solo shot in the fifth inning.  Luke Doty added an RBI single in the 6th inning.

Zach Otten singled, Durbin was hit by a pitch, and Doty singled to load the bases for Powell's grand slam in the 6th inning.

Quick struck out seven VU batters for the shutout.
