Kiersten Manning's five-hit shutout propelled the Illinois Central College softball team to a 4-0 win over #16 Spoon River in Game 1 of Region 24 action at SRC Softball Field on Sunday afternoon. The Snappers quieted the Cougar bats to take Game 2 by a score of 7-0 to earn the split. ICC is now 10-10 overall, 5-5 in Region 24 while SRC's overall record is now 25-8-1.
"Game one was a good win," coach Heather Doty said. "Kiersten was in command and our defense played well behind her. We also did a nice job of putting the ball into play to score."

The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when
Olivia Stirnaman singled and advanced to third on two ground outs. She scored on a
Shylar Boze base hit and then Boze crossed home plate on
Savanah Clifton's double as the Cougars went up 2-0.
Manning led off the sixth inning with a solo blast to center field. Boze and Clifton each smacked singles but did not score as ICC maintained a 3-0 lead.
Olivia Drish added insurance in the top of the seventh inning with a solo home run. ICC had a total of eleven hits in Game 1.
Manning struck out eight Snappers while allowing just one runner past second base.

Gracie White led the game off with a single but the Cougars managed only one other hit after that, a double by Boze in the second inning.
The Snappers scored runs in the first four innings----two in the first, two in the second, one in the third, and two more in the fourth to earn the split.
