Danville, Ill. - The ICC men's golf team was riding high. Coach Sean Kennedy's group was coming off team titles in consecutive fall tournaments, and
Peyton Woods having medaled in both of those tournaments. What stood in front of them on Monday was quite the test. The Danville 36 at Danville Country Club featured a nine-team slate that was almost entirely MWAC/Region 24 opposition.
Woods would lead the Cougars individually at 11th place, and
Hunter Ficken eagled on two holes. ICC did have a team-wide six-stroke improvement from the first round to the second, but it would not be enough to hold off the charge.
Seven of the nine teams were within 16 team strokes of each other, but Parkland would lead the field. The Cobras had three individuals within the top five, and won the team title by 18 team strokes.
By the end of the day, the Cougars had birdied on 30 holes, as well as the aforementioned Ficken eagles, coming on the 13th hole in round one and 1st hole in round two.
