Galesburg, IL - It was the last tournament of the fall season for the Illinois Central College Men's Golf team, and the weather conditions certainly felt like it. The Cougars went westbound on Interstate-74 to the Soangetaha Country Club, where they partook in the Knox College Fall Finale on Monday and Tuesday. The field pitted a combination of junior colleges and four-year programs against each other, with the only team besting the Cougars being the lead of three squads from Augustana College, and it was by two strokes. Meanwhile, Trey Boecker and Quinn Cox both were incredibly close to medaling, with both ending up one and two strokes back of medalist honors.

TREY BOECKER | 2ND PLACE | +6 / 150
Boecker would get his tournament going with a three-birdie round on Monday, including back-to-back on the par-5 17th and par-4 18th for a 76. On Tuesday, the freshman evenly split four birdies among the front and back nines for a best round of 74. Four of his seven birdies would be on holes of the par-5 variety.

QUINN COX | 3RD PLACE | +7 / 151
Cox's best round would come on Monday, when he would get par or better on 13 of the 18 holes, including an eagle on the par-5 6th hole. His Tuesday round was not far off, with one birdie apiece on the front and back nine for a 74 on day one and 77 on day two.

PEYTON WOODS | 6TH PLACE | +10 / 154
Woods, fresh off MWAC Medalist honors, would birdie three times on his first round, and like Boecker, two of those would come on the par-5 17th and par-4 18th for a total of 72 on the Monday round. Woods would finish with nine pars on Tuesday for an 82.

DRAKE KAUFMAN | 14TH PLACE | +15 / 159
Kaufman may have had the most birdies out of the group by the end of the event. He would birdie three times on Monday, twice on par-5 holes, and three more times on Tuesday, including consecutively on the 6th and 7th holes. His best round would be a 79 on Monday.

DJ NORMAN | 23RD PLACE | +18 / 162
Norman would finish with a three-birdie tournament, with his best segment coming on the back nine of the Tuesday round, where he would birdie the par-3 14th and par-5 17th as part of a +1 back nine and a 78 Tuesday round overall.

BROCK TAYLOR | 26TH PLACE | +18 / 162
Taylor would turn in a solid four-birdie event, evenly distributing those over the course of his two rounds. His best hole of the tournament would be the par-5 6th, which he would birdie in both of his rounds. His personal best round would be the 77 he had on Monday.

HUNTER FICKEN | 30TH PLACE | +20 / 164
Ficken had four birdies on the event, also splitting them between the two rounds. His best day would be Monday, when an eventual 80 saw him birdie the par-5 6th and par-5 17th.

BROOKS CLUVER | 48TH PLACE | +31 / 175
Cluver's best day would come on Monday, by way of an 82. He would also birdie the par-4 9th on his Tuesday round.

COACH SEAN KENNEDY'S COMMENTS
"It felt like a March tournament. Temperatures were in the upper 40's and low 50's. The winds were up to 10 miles per hour on Monday, and increased into the Tuesday round. Although I'm disappointed we did not win, two freshmen gained very valuable experience that will definitely help us in the spring season."
