East Peoria, Ill. - The Illinois Central College women's basketball team played three games on Saturday as they hosted twenty teams in their 11th annual jamboree at Ramsey Gym and the CougarPlex practice courts. 

"This was an amazing day of basketball," coach Karrie Redeker said.  "We got our feet wet by getting to be in live-game action and playing against someone different.  It takes a village to coordinate this type of event while also playing in it, but our players, staff, and parents helped make it a first-class event."

In addition to teams from four different states (Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, & Michigan), the jamboree served as a recruiting opportunity for student-athletes as over 25 four-year college coaches were in attendance. Schools represented were:

Division I:  Indiana State, Southern Indiana, Ohio, Illinois State, UI-Chicago, Oakland, St. John's
Division II:  McKendree (2),Purdue Northwest (2), Quincy, Roosevelt
Division III: Millikin (3), North Central, Health Sciences & Pharmacy, Knox, Rockford, Eureka
NAIA:  Culver Stockton, Defiance, Brescia

Special thanks to ICC athletic trainer Anna Smarjesse for working the jamboree and to the ICC softball team for doing concessions. 

At the conclusion of the day, the Cougars and their families had a "Meet & Eat" potluck to kick-off the season. 

ICC will host their next pre-season exhibition game next Thursday, October 17 against Olivet Nazarene at 6:30 pm.  

Per NJCAA rules, only individual stats can be reported from pre-season competitions.
