Gulf Shores, Ala. - The Illinois Central College softball team (0-4) wrapped up its trip at the Coyote Classic on Friday, taking on hosts Coastal Alabama South and D1 #11 Chattanooga State at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex. The Cougars out-hit the Coyotes in the opener 13-7, but Coastal Alabama took the run column, 9-6. ICC was able to draw three walks in the finale against the Tigers, but that would be all, as Chattanooga State took a 14-0 game.

After a quick 2-1 Coyotes start after the first inning, the Cougars conceded to a defensive battle over the second and third innings, with Hanna Evans holding Coastal Alabama not just off the scoreboard, but for the time being, the hit column as well. The game-deciding frame came when the Coyotes put up a seven-spot in the bottom of the fourth, making it a 9-1 lead. ICC's bats weren't going down without a fight, scoring five runs between the fifth and sixth innings, including RBI hits from Madi Kessler and Nivarra Oredina, to get back within three runs, but that would settle as the game's final score.

Chattanooga State got off to a 2-0 start in the first inning and never looked back, slugging 15 hits in the win. Offensively, ICC was able to draw a first-inning walk from Nivarra Oredina, a second-inning walk from Alaina Creamer, a third-inning walk from Marley Williamson. Outside of that, the Cougars weren't able to find the hit column in the loss.
