East Peoria, Ill. - Doubles were wild on Tuesday afternoon for the Illinois Central College softball team, as they swept John Wood by scores of 24-2 and 17-0 at Thome Field in Region 24 action.  The Cougar offense was on full display with 40 total hits in the doubleheader, with twelve of those being doubles and three total home runs (Nivarra Ordedina, Marlee Brown, and Courtney Campbell) as ICC run-ruled the Blazers in both contests.  ICC's record now stands at 18-16 overall (11-9 in Region 24) ahead of Wednesday's doubleheader at #16 Spoon River. 

GAME 1:  Illinois Central 24, John Wood 2
Nivarra Oredina had the hottest bat in the opener, going 3-5 with two doubles and a home run.  ICC plated eleven runs in the first inning to set the tone early as Marley Williamson singled, Brown had a two-run shot to center field, Graci Guenther had an RBI single, Madi Kessler was hit-by-a-pitch for an RBI, and Gracie White collected two RBI on a fielder's choice to make the score 7-0.

ICC added four more runs the second time through the order as Williamson continued the two-out rally with another single, Shylar Boze had a base hit and then Brown reached on an error for an RBI.  Hanna Evans hit into a fielder's choice  for another run, and following a Graci Guenther single, Oredina reached on an error to give the Cougars an 11-0 lead.  

Oliva Strawn got in on the action in the second, helping the Cougars add six more runs on four hits as she had an RBI single to score Courtney Campbell who had reached on an error.  Brown and Guenther added to their RBI totals as they each helped plate two more runs and then Oredina launched a 1-2 pitch over the right field fence for a three-run homer and a 17-0 advantage.  

The Cougars added one more run in the third and six more in the fourth inning.  Marlee Brown got the win in the circle, going five innings with two strikeouts.

Game 2:  Illinois Central 17, John Wood 0
The hitting barrage continued into the nightcap, as the Cougars scored four runs in the first, third, and fourth innings and five runs in the second inning.  

Williamson, Linder and Strawn all doubled in the first inning, and along with a base hit by Tudor and RBI grounder by Alaina Creamer, put four runs on the board.

Hyde, Williamson, and Tudor all had singles in the second before Courtney Campbell had a three-run homer to center field for a 9-0 Cougar lead.  The home team kept at it, eventually run-ruling JW to get the big win. 

Addison Church got the win on the mound.
