Bloomington, IL - The Illinois Central College men's golf team made the short trek southward on Interstate-74 on Monday to Crestwicke Country Club and to partake in the highly anticipated Heartland 36, which Coach Sean Kennedy said served as a sort of 'measuring stick' opportunity to see where the Cougars were at after a hot start to the fall season. ICC couldn't quite find their groove early, and ultimately would finish fifth as a team, with reputable individual finishes from
DJ Norman and
Trey Boecker, who'd both tie for fourth place.
Norman would birdie on four holes of his round, including the par-five second and par-four 15th.
Boecker would card eight birdies at the end of the day, with five of them coming on holes of the par-five variety. Boecker also would birdie on three straight holes of his second round - the 12th, 13th, and 14th.
Peyton Woods finished with three birdies, doing so on the par-three 17th, par-five sixth, and par-four 16th.
Brock Taylor had three birdies for his tournament, getting those results on the par-five sixth, par-five 14th, and par-four 16th.
Quinn Cox had two birdies as well, with both coming during his first round - the par-five second and par-three 13th.
Drake Kaufman would birdie three times within his second round, doing so on the par-five second, par-four 10th, and par-three 17th.
Hunter Ficken got four birdies in the event, getting them on the par-four 15th, par-three fourth, par-five 11th, and par-four 18th.
Brooks Cluver would finish his day with five birdies, including four of them coming on par-five holes.

HE SAID IT - QUOTE FROM COACH SEAN KENNEDY
"Nice to see Trey (Boecker) and DJ (Norman) find the medal table again, earning another collegiate top five for both of them. The Cougars just dug ourselves too big of a hole early to come back from. We will clean a few things up this week at practice and are really looking forward to hosting our Cougar Fall Classic next Monday & Tuesday at Metamora Fields."
