Urbana, Ill. - Sophomore All-American Trey Boecker won the Mid-West Athletic Conference Individual Title, shooting a three-under par at Atkins Golf Club at the University of Illinois on Monday. Boecker had a one-under (71) in the morning round and then a two-under (70) in the afternoon.

Heading into the final hole, Boecker had a narrow one-shot lead over Heartland's Gabriele Bravin when he made a clutch up and down par save to give him the two-shot victory.

Overall the Cougars finished in second place as Drake Kaufman (7th) and Connor Watson (10th) each earned Top 10 finishes. The Cougars got off to a slow start as they were +17 after nine holes but rebounded, playing the final 27 holes +5 as a team. 

"Disappointed we did not defend our M-WAC Championship title as a team, but I was pleased with the resiliency of our squad," coach Sean Kennedy said. "We played really well the final 27 holes, but unfortunately had dug ourselves too deep a hole to climb out of. Terrific job by Trey, defending the Tournament Medalist Championship that Peyton Woods won last year."

The team will take a few recovery days and then get ready for their final fall event on October 20 at the Cobra 36.
